Pharr is a border trade city. The Pharr Reynosa International Bridge is the busiest crossing for fresh produce in the country, and a 300 acre produce district of warehouses, trucking offices and cold storage has grown up around it. That means Pharr has an unusual number of commercial buildings for its size: dispatch offices, break rooms, inspection facilities, small retail strips along Cage Boulevard and Jackson Road, and rooftop units that run all day.

It is also a residential city with a lot of families, older single story homes in the central neighborhoods and newer subdivisions toward the north. Permits and Paperwork in Pharr

The City of Pharr requires a mechanical permit to replace an HVAC system, and mechanical permits go through licensed contractors at the city's Building and Safety Division. Whoever you hire, ask who is pulling the permit and ask for the permit number afterward. A replacement done without one can cause trouble when you sell the house or file an insurance claim.
