A Local Shop, Not a Call Center
Search for AC repair in Edinburg and a lot of the results are lead sites that sell your phone number to whoever pays. Cool Aid is a real shop at 4925 Murillo Street. When you call, you reach Carlos or someone on his team, and the person who answers knows what the trucks are doing that day.
Carlos has worked in HVAC since 2004 and holds Texas license TACLA35238R. Weekday hours run 7 AM to 7 PM, Saturday 8 AM to 2 PM and Sunday 9 AM to 2 PM for scheduled jobs. We do not run after hours emergency calls, so if the system dies at night, call first thing in the morning.
Edinburg Keeps Growing, and So Does the Age Range of Its Air Conditioners
Edinburg is the county seat of Hidalgo County and the home of the main University of Texas Rio Grande Valley campus. The 2020 census counted 100,243 people, about 39 percent more than in 2010, and much of the new housing has gone up in subdivisions north of University Drive.
For an HVAC shop that means two kinds of house. Older homes closer to the center of town often have original ductwork, undersized returns and attics that were never meant to hold a modern system. The newer subdivisions have systems that are ten or twelve summers old and are starting to show it. Both need a technician who checks the house before quoting anything, because the same symptom can have very different causes.
What We Do for Edinburg Customers
Most calls are repairs. Summer highs sit in the upper 90s and the system runs almost every day from May into October, so we see worn capacitors, failed fan motors, clogged condensate drains and low refrigerant most often. We diagnose, quote the price and only then start the work.
When a system has reached the end of its life we size a replacement to the house with a load calculation, and installations carry a one year labor and ten year parts warranty. We also repair and install heat pumps and furnaces, and we put in in duct air purification for homes that want cleaner air.
Rental Property, Small Offices and Commercial Rooftops
A county seat and a university town have a lot of landlords, small professional offices and light commercial buildings. We work on rental homes and duplexes, and we handle commercial rooftop units for comfort cooling. When you call, tell us the number of units and what kind of equipment is on the roof or in the closet, so we can send the right technician with the right parts.
We do not do refrigeration for cold storage or walk in coolers. If that is what you need, we will tell you on the phone instead of wasting your day.

"Called about an issue we were having with our AC and he was able to resolve it over the phone at no charge. We asked if we needed any maintenance or cleaning on our unit and he was honest to tell us no."
Patricia Garza
"Carlos came on a Friday, gave us a quote and said he could install the next day. Arrived on the scheduled time and 45 minutes later we had A/C, for the quoted price. I had some other people do some work for us and the final price was well above the quoted price."
